Sokol Houston is a small nonprofit organization that is a member of the American Sokol Organization. Our purpose is to promote physical fitness through gymnastics and we strive to make our program affordable and available to everyone. We accept students ages 3 years and up with no prior gymnastics experience necessary. We offer recreational classes for an hour and a half a night, twice a week with the more advanced students having an opportunity to sign up for an extended class. Wing Tsun Kung Fu has been at the cutting edge of self defense for over 300 years. The art constantly develops and improves. The name itself means "eternal spring time" or "forever young" because Wing Tsun never stops growing and adjusting to new challenges. Here at 'the Backyard," we hold nothing back. If you are ready to learn, we are ready to teach you. We will teach you as fast as you can digest new concepts and techniques. You will learn how to protect yourself from the most common attacks within the first two to three months of your training. That is our promise. We only expect that you practice what we teach. Kung Fu cannot be learned without consistent and intelligent practice. Alex Wallenwein, the instructor at this school, has been teaching Wing Tsun in Houston both publicly and privately since 1988. He holds a 2nd Technician Grade Instructor Level from Bay Mountain Wing Tsun in northern California.

North Side Karate (a.k.a. "Aldine's Tae Kwon Do") offers classes and seminars in Karate, Self-Defense, Weapons, and Adult Workout sessions. The system teaches various martial arts styles. With everything taught, there is a strong emphasis on practical self-defense and respect. The school also offers other services to help parents with the care of their children such as Summer Camp and After-School Care. The school's martial arts students compete regularly in Amateur Organization of Karate (AOK), USA Martial Arts Association and Texas Karate Organization (TKO) events. Black Key Piano Studio is owned and operated by Jessica Snoots. Ms Snoots received a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Syracuse University, and a Master of Music in piano performance and pedagogy from Southern Methodist University. In her 10 years of experience, she has taught both group and private piano lessons to students of all ages.
